Mission Statement

Friends of Rwandan Rugby (FORR) supports school and community participation in the game of rugby, to promote reconciliation and encourage  a healthy and active lifestyle amongst the Rwandan people.

“If you have a month, or even two weeks to spare I could not think of a more memorable and rewarding way to spend your time”
Kate Alback July 2007

I have been playing rugby now for 9 years, I have been coaching for the last 3, and in my combined years I have yet to witness the passion and desire to play rugby as I did in Rwanda. The boys have such a passion to learn as much of the game as they can. With a little demonstration the players pick it up very quickly. I believe that FoRR are making a huge difference in the lives of these young men"
Sarah Formiglio February 2008

Get Involved!

FoRR is organising a tour of TAG rugby coaches to Rwanda from May 23rd-31st 2009.  We are looking for interested people wishing to visit the country and volunteer their passion and knowledge to develop the game to about 400 children in primary schools.

Coaching capacity was given a massive boost due to the work of volunteers in 2007 and 2008 which helped develop young players into physical teams playing a fast free flowing style of rugby. These children had no prior experience of the game!

By introducing them to the sport, the youngsters now feel part of a team and are given the chance to shine.
